THE JUDICIAL BRANCH

Picture

The Judicial Branch oversees the court system.

It is organized into 3 levels: The Supreme Court, the court of appeals, and the district courts.

Congress is in charge of the Judicial Branch, but the President picks the members in it.

What does the Judicial Branch do?
  • Try court cases in front of a judge
  • The judge will use the Constitution to decide who wins the case
  • This branch's job is to interpret the laws of the United States and punish people who do not follow them

The Supreme Court
  • Highest and most powerful court
  • Judges are called Supreme Court Justices
  • The Justices decide if they want to hear a case or not; they only listen to the most important cases!

There have been two sound clips so far telling you about the creation of each branch.
